The International Study Center (ISC) at Boston College is looking for a specialist in statistics and SAS computer programming to join its data analysis team. The ISC houses the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) and the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS). TIMSS and PIRLS are the largest studies ever undertaken comparing student achievement between countries. Data collection and reporting takes place on a two year cycle. Responsibilities include research in educational statistics, and the provision of statistical and programming support for the ISC staff.

Master's degree in statistics, computer science, or equivalent; demonstrated knowledge of statistical techniques and computer programming; sound knowledge of advanced statistical methods used in social research; ample experience in analyzing large volumes of data, developing analysis plans, developing systems and procedures for the management, cleaning, and analysis of large volumes of data; at least 5 years experience with SAS and/or SPSS; working knowledge of a programming language such as Fortran or C++; good interpersonal skills, and demonstrable problem solving skills and creativity as well as the ability to work with others under pressure and adhere to tight timelines.
