WestEd is seeking to fill the position of Financial Analyst for the San Francisco, CA office.
The Financial Analyst will be responsible for a variety of tasks working closely with the IT leadership and WestEd department staff. Primary duties will include owning the financial processes of WestEdís IT Department, providing regular in-depth analysis of the IT operational budgets, forecasting and budgeting, and provide guidance to IT team leads for financial decisions.
This position requires multiple skills and experience managing varied tasks, excellent teamwork skills, and the commitment to follow through in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be a well-organized, detail-oriented, analytical individual with excellent communication skills.
-Use WestEd systems and tools to review, reconcile, and take responsibility for IT spend.
- Responsible for the coordination, compilation and distribution of regular monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc financial reports (variance reports, budget reconciliation, labor reports) with written summaries.
-Analyze data, forecast annual spend, and track performance against benchmarks.
-Work with IT team leads to understand the departmentís financial priorities and assist with financial planning on new projects and initiatives
-Provide continual improvement of budgeting process through education of IT team leads on issues impacting their budgets.
-Drive the annual budgeting process and financial planning for strategic projects
-Own the day-to-day financial processes of WestEd's IT Department, such as reviewing and approving purchase requests, tracking staff time, reconcile corporate credit cards.
-Review and approve IT department invoices for internet, hardware, software, etc.
-Proactively look for ways to improve current department financial processes
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelorís degree required.
3-5 years of experience in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, including experience with formulas such as VLOOKUP and SUMPRODUCT, and functionalities such as Goal Seek, Pivot Tables, and linking multiple files/worksheets.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously within strict deadlines, working independently and as part of a team.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with IT department products and operations is a plus.
Experience using Cognos, Salesforce, or other Business Intelligence tools is a plus.
Knowledge of and familiarity with nonprofit organizations is a plus.
