Senior Research Antenna Engineer (Limited Term)

The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Senior Research Antenna Engineer (Limited Term).

Applications will be accepted until 6/22/2018.

This position involves research, design, development, and measurement of antennas and circuits for a novel integrated gradient-index (GRIN) lens antenna system for operation in the millimeter-wave bands from 28-110 GHz. The antenna system comprises a GRIN lens antenna, feed element, switch matrix/analog beamformer as well as transceiver circuits (some of which are novel, low-power circuits from other research programs). The antenna system will provide a first-of-kind low-power millimeter-wave beam-steering antenna which will revolutionize the application of such beam-steering capability for low-power applications including 5G wireless communications (even on mobile devices), IoT sensors, and communications, radar and other sensing modalities on low-SWaP platforms. This project is based upon both industrial and federal government collaborations.
Suitable candidates should hold an M.S. with 7+ years of experience or a Ph.D. in high-frequency electromagnetic design and measurement.
The candidate should have demonstrated expertise in full-wave electromagnetic simulation (e.g., Ansys HFSS, CST, FEKO) and be able to generate professional technical reports and contribute to journal articles. Design and measurement are both required. Candidate will interact with and provide direction to graduate and undergraduate students.
This is a limited-term position renewable annually based on funding.

Minimum Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship is required for funding.Masters degree and 7 plus years experience

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in electrical engineering in wireless systems (Communications or radar), antennas, and microwave circuits including passive and active circuits.Experience with industry standard tools such as Keysight ADS (or AWR MWO), Ansys HFSS (or CST, FEKO).Experience in microwave/millimeter-wave experimentation/measurement and related areas; programming for design and analysis in Matlab/Python (or similar).Some years of experience may be substituted for a PhD degree.
