Field Engineering Rescue 21, California Flyer
General Dynamics C4 Systems provides its government and commercial customers around the globe with integrated network and communication solutions for mission critical applications including satellite communication, satellite operations, network systems and information services, blue force tracking, homeland security, detection, surveillance, intelligence, and emergency response.
Field engineer to support California Area sectors and could fly to cover other Rescue 21 Sectors nationwide for Rescue 21. Job Location in the San Luis Obispo, CA the goal to help support the Northern Los Angeles sector and Southern San Francisco sector. The San Luis Obispo, CA area includes Northern Los Angeles Sector and Southern San Francisco Sector and cross coverage with other California sectors. Working out of personal home, with GD supplied tools/vehicle and maintain a regional depot location. Primary responsibility is for equipment/ system support of the Rescue 21 communication system. The system has remote sites throughout the California area and nationwide. Field Service Engineer (FSE) will provide emergency repair response coverage and total system preventive maintenance coverage. Engineer should have a detailed knowledge of system tactical employment and optimization. FSE shall document failures and corrective action in accordance with proper procedures and methods. FSE will be able to provide technical support independently in most situations. Prepare and submit periodic status reports and inventories as required by operational procedures.
FSE will be required to conduct acceptance testing and troubleshooting of complex systems, subsystems, and modules in an effective efficient manner. Effectively interface with customer and sub-contractor organizations. Demonstrate good analytical capability and current technical knowledge. Interpret complex engineering drawings, diagrams and schematics. FSE will accurately document all tasks and troubleshooting activities as they are performed. Assist in making corrections and improvements to procedures. Demonstrated ability to maintain commitment to continued learning in order to meet career demands.
The applicant is required to hold a BS degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent work experience. Three years direct experience. Applicant should be proficient in utilizing RF bench and portable test equipment. Experience in the operation and maintenance of radio equipment, an FCC license is a plus. Knowledge of generally accepted technical (electronic) theory and large communication troubleshooting capability. Candidate must have knowledge/experience with networking, computers and software applications. Cisco network administration certifications are strongly desired. Microsoft system and database administration certifications are desired. Experience with DOD programs is desired. US Coast Guard and/or Military background are strongly desired. Good interpersonal and organization skills are a requirement. Candidate must have the ability to work from verbal and written instructions. The applicant must be willing to work extra hours as needed to meet business goals. Extensive travel will be required. Applicant must be capable of obtaining a US Security Clearance. Valid driver’s license required.Education and Experience
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in an engineering or related technical field or the equivalent experience is required.
In addtion, a minimum of 3 years of directly related field engineering support experience is required.
A minimum of 5 years of directly related experience is preferred.
